Leadership Academy 2020
The Fraternity is excited to invite all New Member Educators, Vice Presidents of Chapter Development, and either the New Member Adviser OR the Chapter Development Adviser to attend LA 2020 for an incredible weekend of creative thinking, ambitious learning, and inspirational idea sharing with sisters from across North America. Participants will relive AOII’s impactful new member period while learning how to retain members through all aspects of sisterhood. Get excited to join us as we turn back time to the first days in AOII and immerse yourself into our sisterhood and discover tools to enhance relationships within your chapter.
During Leadership Academy we will be featuring various chapters through video components, and we are looking to YOU to share some great video footage with us! Click the link below to find out how you can participate!
How to be featured at Leadership Academy
We would love to feature you during our programming and have a few steps below that we ask that you follow. While filming your responses, it is important to keep a few things in mind:
- First and foremost, if you are using your smart phone to film, please hold the phone horizontally instead of vertically as it makes the footage easier to edit.
- It is crucial to keep the camera steady. We recommend using a tripod or propping your phone up against a solid surface to avoid shaky footage.
- We also suggest using the back camera on your phone for better quality. If you have the ability to do so, enlist the help of a friend or family member to film for you.
- You want to find a fairly sound-proof room. Be mindful of any background noise coming from pipes, the AC or chatter from other rooms.
- Avoid fluorescent lights if possible. Studio lights and/or camera flashes are obviously best, but you can also use natural light from a window.
- Make sure you are filming at an appropriate angle. We recommend following the rule of thirds, and either placing your subject directly in the center or off to one side of the shot.
- Make sure the person you are interviewing is looking either at the camera or just slightly off of the camera to look more natural.
- Make sure members are dressed appropriately for the video. Hair and makeup should be done, and outfits should be appropriate for the tone of the video. Also, avoid bold patterns as those are distracting on camera.
- Once you have finished filming your video, upload it into Drop Box or Google Drive, and send a link to Madison Smith, Assistant Director of Multimedia at msmith@alphaomicronpi.org.
Feel free to answer one question below or answer more than one. Anything you provide we would love to hear what you have to say! We ask that all videos are submitted by Thursday, January 16th.
Here are some prompt questions you can answer on camera:
- What about your new member experience made it meaningful?
- How do you reflect credit on AOII through your campus or AOII leadership opportunities?
- What is the best part about living with sisters?
- Describe a time when you and your sisters were participating in campus events like Homecoming, Greek Week, Greek Awards, etc. and this brought your chapter closer together.
- Share a special moment in AOII. (This could include big moments or something small that had a big impact on your experience.)
- What does “AOII for a lifetime” mean to you?
Registration will open November 1, 2019 and close on January 10, 2020. Please reference the FAQs for additional questions and information.
