Camp AOII

2024 Event Recap

Camp AOII was held for the second biennium in the summer of 2024 and is an experience designed for emerging leaders of AOII collegiate chapters. This summer’s event, held in two sessions, with a total of 172 camp attendees and 23 facilitators, was designed to help collegians build new connections and develop leadership skills they can use in positions within AOII, on-campus, and beyond. AOII’s Beta Phi Chapter facility at Indiana U was the site for both sessions of campers and camp counselors that proved to be memorable and impactful events.

Campers received leadership training in a living and learning summer camp setting that featured sleeping in bunk beds, eating dining hall meals, and engaging in team building, games, and more!

A highlight of this experience is the Campfire Crews. Each campfire crew has one facilitator (11 Campfire Crews in total) and 7 or 8 campers. The facilitators did an amazing job creating a place for campers to show up completely themselves to ask questions, to learn, to challenge, to be challenged, and to grow. The bonds created in this group are long-lasting as they were built on the ties that bind us.

Each camp session consisted of three lead facilitators who presented the leadership-based content thoughtfully and in such a way that allowed for conversation, an exploration of differences, as well as a way to come together in sisterhood. These engaging education tracks highlighted AOII’s Ends as content was facilitated on embracing ambition, how to strengthen their sense of belonging, challenging their leadership style and skill, leaning into service for a lifetime and discovering their role in diversity, equity, and Inclusion.

Each Camp session left campers feeling engaged, inspired, and excited to return to their chapters equipped with new skills and friendships.
