BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (July 25, 2017) — Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity is devastated by the loss of Shelby McEachron, 21, a collegiate member of AOII’s Alpha Lambda Chapter at Georgia Southern University, who passed away the evening of Monday, July 24 after sustaining severe injuries from a tragic car accident. She was involved in the car accident while driving to work the afternoon of Monday, July 17 in New York. Alpha Omicron Pi sends its deepest condolences to McEachron’s family and to the sisters of the Alpha Lambda Chapter. It is Alpha Omicron Pi’s hope that members will find the support they need through the ties of sisterhood and comfort from friends and family. Alpha Omicron Pi is grateful for the Georgia Southern University community and all those who are offering support to our members, while keeping McEachron’s loved ones in their thoughts during this difficult time.
Alpha Omicron Pi will provide information at a later date about a formal draping of the badge in coordination with the Alpha Lambda Chapter. The preferred method of draping the badge is to pin the badge through a piece of black ribbon. Collegiate and alumnae chapters may also hold the Memorial Ritual for Chapters and Members, a ceremony intended for initiated members of Alpha Omicron Pi to honor a deceased member.
